Den Chief

Job Description:

The Den Chief is an ambassador of the troop to local Cub Scout packs. He assists the den leader with den and pack activities and serves as a role model to the boys. This is an appointed position by the Scoutmaster and typically runs for a full year to provide continuity to the den. A Den Chief can hold an additional troop

The Den Chief is an ambassador of the troop to local Cub Scout packs. He assists the den leader with den and pack activities and serves as a role model to the boys. This is an appointed position by the Scoutmaster and typically runs for a full year to provide continuity to the den. A Den Chief can hold an additional troop elected position


Responsible to:

Assigned Den Leader

Minimum Rank:

First Class Scout

Minimum Training:

Trainers EDGE and Den Chief Training

Term:

Approximately 12 months

Minimum Attendance:

The Den Chief should attend at least 80% of the Tuesday meetings and at least 80% of the Den & Pack meetings


Specific Duties:

  • Know the purposes of Cub Scouting.
  • Help Cub Scouts achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting.
  • Serve as the activity's assistant at den meetings.
  • Set a good example through attitude and uniform
  • Be a friend to the boys in the den.
  • Help the den in its part of the monthly Pack meeting.
  • Meet regularly with the den leader to review den and Pack meeting plans.
  • Encourage Cub Scouts to join a Boy Scout Troop upon Graduation.
  • Be on time for all troop, den and pack meetings and activities.
  • Set a good example.
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Be an active Scout and show Scout spirit.
